Vågar is dry

Aker BP failed to find hydrocarbons in the Permian Zechstein carbonate reservoir, which proved to be tight and of poor quality.

The NPD reports that Aker BP ASA, operator of PL762, has concluded the drilling of wildcat well 6608/6-1, Vågar prospect. This is the first exploration well in this license, which was awarded in APA 2013.

The objective of the well was to prove petroleum in reservoir rocks from the Permian Age.

Well 6608/6-1 encountered about 285 m of carbonate rocks in the Zechstein group in the Permian. These are partially tight and partially with poor reservoir quality, but with 4 m of moderate reservoir quality.

According to Aker BP, predrill resource estimates were between 63 – 130 MMboe.
